Date: August 9, 2025
With the permission and absence of the Executive Director, Professor Anita M. Diop, the Cameroon Executive Staff visited the Kingdom of Okoa to strengthen and vitalize the ongoing relationship and partnership with the Kingdom for the purpose of valorizing the Kingdom.
The executive staff present on this trip were the Assistant Director, Dr. Mbu Dora, the Secretary, Mme Ndzengah Jeannette, and the Coordinator of Youth and Development Program, Dr. Bello.
The Executive members of ARHF took off from Yaounde to Okoa village at 7:30 a.m and arrived Okoa 1 hour later by 8:30 a.m. The meeting which started at 8:45 a.m with a word of welcome from her Majesty Nkunkuma Marie-Louise Zoa lasted for about an hour and a half. In her welcome note, she thanked the ARHF organisation and staff for their continuous support and activities within the Okoa community.
The ARHF Assistant Director, Dr. Mbu Dora thanked Her Majesty and presented the purpose for the visit which had to do with preparations for the Global Day of Community Service for the year 2024. In that light, the Youth Program Coordinator in the person of Mr. Bello took over and enlightened Her Majesty more on the Theme for this Year’s Global Day of Community Service which has as it’s main focus “the Values of the traditional dance in the perpetuation of the cultural heritage of the people of Okoa village in Cameroon”.
Another Important aspect that the Youth’s coordinator emphasized upon had to do with the ARHF donation of sewing machines to Her Majesty to empower her community industriously in the domain of skill acquisition and the promotion of the African Traditional and Royal Attire especially that of the people of Okoa and the center region of Cameroon. These sewing machines will boost productivity and entrepreneurial skills for the apprentices who are members of the Okoa community.
On this note, Her Majesty promised to do a check list for the sewing machines and the essential needs to boost the Fashion design industry and entrepreneurial management which she will forward to us for onward perusal. This is because, she knows best the type of sewing machines that will go well for the type of materials they are using.
For the activities on the Global Day of Community Service, Dr. Bello was assigned to come up with a draft plan of activities for that day and share with us for onward review before the D-Day. Also, a tentative month for the GDCS has been scheduled for the first week of December 2024 since the initial time of these activities earmarked for the month of October 2024 coincides with the Presidential elections in Cameroon and movement will be restricted in many areas of the city.
We also agreed that the scientific writings compiled from this year’s theme for the GDCS will be added to the previous collection from the first encounter with Nkunkuma Marie-louise Zoa before publication. As such, the volume will publish works about traditional female leadership from the Kingdom of Okoa, Cameroon and the preservation of her cultural heritage through traditional dances.
The active participation of the Volunteers in the GDCS is of utmost importance, as such all volunteers will have to be contacted and a possible meeting held with them to orientate them of the activities of the GDCS day and their responsibilities for that day and beyond.
To achieve our aim and objectives for the GDCS Day for this year 2025, the following financial commitment has to be put in place for proper implementation and the success of our activities.
